MOC partnered with a Swiss-based organization, Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) to offer six-month online professional courses aimed at helping marginalized youth in Caledonia, Mabvuku, and Tafara communities. JWL partners with a wide range of universities globally including the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in Germany, Georgetown University in the US, and the Catholic University of Nairobi in Kenya. The courses offered range from Peace Leadership, Ecotourism, Liberal Studies and Reimagining Democratic Foundation for Peace Studies. MOC facilitates for the students in the communities stated above, with the necessary requirements for accessing the courses offered by JWL. These requirements include, but are not limited to, internet connection, gadgets used to access learning websites and a favourable learning condition with onsite facilitator’s, in case assistance is required. Once students complete their courses, they receive certificates that can help them pursue further education or find jobs.

JWL’s goals are truly inspiring:

  • Making higher education accessible for marginalized and underserved communities around the world, including refugees and displaced people.
  • Promoting social justice and equality by empowering students to challenge injustices and make positive changes in their communities.
  • Supporting personal growth and leadership—helping students develop critical thinking, ethics, and leadership skills to become change-makers.
  • Using innovative digital tools to bring education to remote or conflict-affected areas where traditional classrooms aren’t possible.
  • Fostering global understanding and cultural dialogue to build connections across different backgrounds, promoting mutual respect and a sense of worldwide community.
