Helping Today
Helping Tommorow

In 2000, Mrs. P. Bailey and Sister. Kathleen Barbee envisaged Mavambo Trust (Mavambo Orphan Care) as a response to Mashambanzou Care Trust’s assessment of the critical needs of children and youth orphaned by AIDS related illnesses. Subsequent surveys were conducted in 2003, 2013 and 2015 which further reinforced the need to support the orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), youth and targeted households.

MOC is governed by a Board of Trustees (9) and works with orphans and vulnerable children, youth, their primary caregivers and volunteers. Furthermore, it works with Child Protection Committees to increase outreach and impact in Harare, Mashonaland East and Central Provinces. Schools contribute their time and resources in identifying the child protection needs, monitor attendance, progression and performance of the children as well as improve the learning environment and outcomes. MOC also supports school feeding in 198 schools, attracting impoverished children to the classroom where they gain an education that will one day be their ladder out of poverty. The organization aims to foster self-reliance among its programme participants/stakeholders to achieve sustainability.
